ROHTAK: A 24-year-old man was shot dead by two motorcycleborne assailants on Rohtak road in Jind district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Anand Singh, a resident of Shiv Colony of the district.

A part of the murder was caught on camera, which shows the two assailants coming on a motorcycle and opening indiscriminate fire at Anand, who was sitting on his scooty.

Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police said four bullets were pumped into his body, adding that Anand’s father Nar Singh has lodged a complaint suspecting his daughter-in-law and her family had a hand in the murder of his son.

The police quoting the complaint said Anand’s elder brother Joginder was married to Jind resident Suman.

Around two years into marriage, Joginder was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Soon after his death, his wife Suman had filed a case of dowry and rape against her in-laws, which is still in court.

The father of the victim said Suman’s brother Sumit could have been involved in the murder to settle their old rivalry with them.

“The victim’s father said he can’t think of any other enmity of his son since he lived outside and had come home recently,” Jind city SHO Amarjeet said.

Police said based on the victim’s father complaint, they have booked Suman, his brother Sumit and their father Ishwar under Section 302 (murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
