Khaira wants probe against Captain
JALANDHAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Bholath member legislative assembly (MLA) Sukhpal Singh Khaira has demanded that chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh should also be probed into, in the ongoing sand mining controversy, questioning as to why Captain is trying to shield his minister in the scam. He further asked for an inquiry to be carried out by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court.
Lashing out at the state government for choosing justice (retd) JS Narang for the inquiry on alleged ‘benami transactions’ carried out by the state power minister for sand mining auction, Khaira claimed that Narang’s son AS Narang has been a lawyer for Rana Gurjit Singh and the judge had close links with the family.
“We term it a bogus inquiry. After 30 days, justice Narang is going to present his inquiry report, where he will give a clean chit to Rana Gurjit. We demand the government to appoint a sitting judge of the high court to carry out inquiry in a fair manner,” he said.
Criticizing Congress and former SAD-BJP alliance, Khaira said only the colour of turban has changed from blue to white.
Corrupt practices of the government in power continue to be the same. The AAP supporters burnt an effigy of the power minister and demanded his resignation on moral grounds. Khaira also lashed out at his own party leaders during the dharna against Rana Gurjit Singh, on Monday. Meanwhile, he has asked zone co-coordinator Sukhdeep Singh Apra to give a report within an hour on the list of AAP candidates from the nine constituencies, who were not present during the dharna.
