DY SPEAKER JUSTIFIES ACTION AGAINST KHAIRA

: Justifying the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Sukhpal Singh Khaira from the budget session, newly elected deputy speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Ajaib Singh Bhatti said it’s not acceptable to post a video of the House on the social media.

“Khaira is a respectable member of the House, but he violated rules,” said Bhatti, adding that speaker Rana KP Singh has referred the case to privileges committee. “Let Khaira explain his position to the committee, which has members of all parties,” he added.

Talking to the media here, the deputy speaker said the Opposition was trying to play to the gallery instead of participating in a serious debate. “I am not pleased with the things going on in the assembly. The treasury and Opposition benches should try to find a solution to people’s problems. But the Opposition is working to hog media limelight,” he said.
