NO THREAT TO AMARNATH PILGRIMS, SAYS GEELANI

-

SRINAGAR : Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday said the reports of threats to the upcoming Amarnath yatra was “a calculated move aimed at maligning and discrediting the political struggle of Kashmir”. In a statement, Geelani denounced what he termed as a misinformation campaign carried out by “Indian biased media”. Geelani assured the pilgrims that there was no threat to their lives and asked them to consider the sufferings of Kashmiris.

He said that issue of Kashmir is a political one and stressed visitors to feel the pain and see the issue through the prism of humanity.

Geelani said people in Kashmir, while continuing with the age-old tradition of providing best hospitality to pilgrims, have always been friendly and generous to the visitors, particularly Amarnath pilgrims.
