The Consumer Protection Regulations, 2005, stipulate speedy redress of complaints filed by or against senior citizens, widows and physically challenged persons. However, the Patiala forum took more than five months to decide on a complaint by an elderly widow. The remarks at the end of the order attributed the delay to “heavy pendency of cases”.
