PARTY TO BLOCK VEHICLES ON HARYANA BORDERS TOMORROW BETWEEN 9 AM AND

3 PM; ABHAY CHAUTALA TO VISIT THESE PLACES IN CHOPPER TO OVERSEE PARTY PROTEST

CHANDIGARH:Leader of Opposition in Haryana assembly Abhay Chautala on Saturday reiterated his party Indian National Lok Dal’s (INLD) resolve to stop all vehicles coming from Punjab from entering into Haryana on Monday to protest against the alleged failure of the BJP-led NDA government to ensure construction of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, as per the Supreme Court verdict.

“We are ready to face bullets, but will not allow any vehicle, even a cycle fromPunjab to enter Haryana,” he said while talking to mediapersons here.

Abhay said INLD was constrained to announce the blockade programme after the party’s repeated representations, dharnas and demonstrations over the issue yielded no results.

The INLD leader said he and state party president Ashok Arora would lead the blockade programme at the Lalru-Chandigarh road, while Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala would lead the protest at the AmbalaShambhu border.

He said Jind district INLD president Krishan Rathi and four area MLAs would be present at Narwana-Khanauri border, while former MLA Nishan Singh lead the demonstration at RatiaBudladha road (Jakhal point) in Fathehabad.

INLD MP Charanjit Singh Rori, Digvijay Chautala and party MLAs from Sirsa district would be present at the Dabwali border.

Abhay said he would also visit all the designated spots by helicopter to oversee the protests and encourage the workers.

Stating that the traffic coming from Punjab would be stopped between 9 am and 3 pm, he made it clear that vehicles coming from Delhi would not be stopped.

“Barring ambulances and fire brigades, we will stop all types of vehicles and give every driver a flower to convey our apology for the inconvenience,” the INLD leader said.

Highlighting the prevailing water crisis in Haryana, Abhay said 60% area of the state had fallen in the dark zone and 37,000 tubewell connections were in the pending list. .
