FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE WERE RUSHED TO THE SPOT; WHEN THEY TRIED TO PULL THE BODY OUT, THEY FOUND BOY’S BODY TIED TO IT

DHARAMSHALA: Bodies of a 40-year-old woman and her teenage son were found floating in Awa rivulet in Baijnath subdivision of Kangra district on late Friday.

Deceased have been identified as Ritu Devi and Sahil Dogra (17), residents of Samlehd village of Makol Panchyat in Palampur subdivision.

Ritu worked as a teacher in a private school, while her son was a Class 12 student.

Kangra superintendent of police (SP) Kangra Sanjeev Gandhi said, a local youth at Rajot village saw the body of a woman floating in the rivulet and informed the local panchyat representatives, who further informed the police.

Gandhi told that a team of police and firefighters was rushed to the spot and when they tried to pull out the body, they found boy’s body tied to it with a dupatta.

“Prima facie it seems to be a suicide case,” said Gandhi and added that the deceased woman’s brother has lodged a complaint against her husband Sansar Chand, who works in home guards department.

He has been booked under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and is being interrogated. Bodies have been handed over to family members after postmortem.
