14yearold girl’s body found in canal, classmate missing

SBS NAGAR: The body of a Class 9 student, Manpreet Kaur, 14, was found floating in Bist-Doaba canal in Mehatpur village here on Friday evening.

The victim was in school dress when her body was brought out by the villagers.

Balachaur police station station house officer (SHO) Harjinder Singh said that Manpreet and her classmate Rupinderjeet Kaur, 15, used to travel in van. But on Friday they stepped down midway claiming that they want to go to tuition classes.

The SHO said that there is no information about Rupinderjeet who was last seen with Manpreet.

As per information, two volunteers of a religious shrine, Saddam and Sonu, noticed the body and called police.

Cops and villagers took the body to nearby hospital. The cops informed Manpreet’s family.

The police is yet to register any case.
