Industrialist’s bail plea cancelled
JALANDHAR: A local court in Ludhiana dismissed bail application of Parteik Gupta, an industrialist allegedly involved in Hoshiarpur land scam, on Wednesday.
Gupta was arrested by the vigilance sleuths from Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi on July 3.He had been absconding since the FIR was registered against him along with 12 others in the case in February 2017 by the vigilance bureau. Presently, he is lodged in Ludhiana jail. Vigilance had also issued a look out circular for all the accused.
A few days back, Jived Sood, son of senior BJP leader and former minister Tikshan Sud, and his business associate Akhil Sood were summoned by the state vigilance bureau for questioning over the land scam as Gupta had told that he had given ₹2.5 crore to them and purchased their firm SS Engineering.
In the scam, reported by HT in June last year, land sharks bought chunks, already notified for a road four-laning project, by spreading rumours that the government was going to pay owners low compensation.
