School bus overturns in Fatehabad, children receive minor injuries

HISAR: Nearly 20 children travelling in a private school bus escaped with minor injuries when the vehicle overturned near Boswal village of Fatehabad district on Thursday.

Police have arrested the bus driver for wrongly trying to overtake another vehicle. Passersby and people from nearby areas rushed to the spot and started pulling the children out and informed police about the incident.

The bus was carrying students of DAV School, Fatehabad and the incident took place at 8.30am. The children are in the age group of 5 to 11.

Fatehabad station house officer (SHO city) Sombir Dhaka reached the spot with police force and the children were taken to the local general hospital.

The children were sent back to their homes after they were given first-aid treatment.

SHO Dhaka said, All children are safe. They were rushed to hospital with minor injuries and family members of the children took them back to their home after treatment. Police have also started investigat­ion," Dhaka added.

SHO Dhaka said that a team has been formed to investigat­e the matter properly. “The police will take action accordingl­y,” he said.

The SHO said, “We have arrested the driver identified as Mahender Singh (35), since he was trying to overtake a motorcycle and eventually lost control over the vehicle as result of which it overturned.

The conductor has been identified as Sumit Kumar (30).”Sources said the bus driver is handicappe­d.
