Testing times: CAT registration set to kick off on August 9
NEWDELHI: The Common Admission Test (CAT), a computerbased admission test for entrance to postgraduate management programmes (PGP) at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), will be conducted on 26 November in two sessions. Registration begins on 9 August and will continue till 5pm on 20 September. Candidates can download admit cards from 18 October till the test date. Results are tentatively scheduled to be declared in January 2018.
This year, Indian Institutes of Management Lucknow is the convener of the test. Nearly 4000 seats across 20 IIMs up for grabs.
The test will be conducted across 140 test centres and candidates can offer up to four choices of test centres.
However, there will be no choice of session which will be assigned randomly.
Those with a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Persons With Disability categories] awarded by any university or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, can apply. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination as well as those who have completed the degree but are awaiting results can also apply.
The list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be put up on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will also send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly.
The three-hour test will have three sections and a tutorial to understand the test pattern will be available on the CAT website from 18 October.
