Ludhiana woman’s hair chopped off in locked room

LUDHIANA:Two more incidents of braid chopping were reported in the city on Thursday.

Braid of one of the women was chopped off when she was alone at her house and the room was locked from inside. The woman claimed that a “cat man” chopped off her hair. Shocked over the incident, the woman has to be admitted to a hospital. The police have initiated investigat­ion after reaching at the spot.

The victim Usha Devi, 35 of Vishwakarm­a Colony of Moti Nagar claimed that she saw shadow of a “cat man” and fainted out of fear. When she regained consciousn­ess she found that her hair chopped off. She raised the alarm and fainted again.

Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to her rescue. Ajay Paswan, one of the neighbours, said even after persistent knocking, Usha did not open the door. They called on police and broke open the door. They saw the woman lying unconsciou­s with her braid chopped off.

Assistant sub-inspector Harbhajan Singh said the police found nothing suspicious in the room.

In another incident, a 23-yearold woman, Meenu, claimed that her braid was chopped off twice in a day. A resident of Swatantar Colony of New Subhash Nagar, the woman said on Thursday afternoon, she felt pressure on her shoulder and fainted. When she regained consciousn­ess, she found her braid chopped off. “After some time, I again felt same pressure on her back and found my hair chopped off,” she claimed.

On Wednesday, hair of a 16-year-old girl, Anjali, was chopped off during the morning assembly at Government High School, Indrapuri.
