FALSE CASES: AMARINDER REJECTS AKALIS’ CHARGE

CHANDIGARH: Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ruled out the transfer of any station house officer (SHO) or police official at the behest of Akali leaders.

Amarinder termed former minister Bikram Majithia’s meeting with the director general of police (DGP) a “crude attempt” to divert attention from imminent exposure of his involvement in registration of false cases during the Akali regime.

“With the maximum complaints of false cases reported from his constituency, Majithia was clearly apprehensive of being exposed once the Ranjit Singh Commission, probing the false cases, comes out with its findings,”Amrinder said.

The CM was reacting to a list of allegedly

“false politically motivated cases registered at the instance of Congress leaders” submitted by an Akali delegation led by Majithia to the DGP to seek transfer of some SHOs in Gurdaspur.

He dismissed Majithia’s allegations that these SHOs had been posted on the recommendation of Congress MLAs to create terror among Akali workers.

‘CM’S CLEAN CHIT VINDICATES OUR STAND’

Responding to Amarinder’s statement, Majithia said the chief minister ’s clean chit to the SHOs even before the DGP could hold an inquiry has vindicated the party’s stand that the Congress MLAs were using them to commit atrocities.

“I do not fear any inquiry, even if it is a friendly commission which has been given a pre-determined mandate to take on and target Akali leaders,” he added.
