GURGAON: The police have formed two teams on Thursday to investigate the case of a 22-year-old IT executive being stalked for almost 6km by two men in a car on Sunday night. The alleged incident took place while she was returning home on her scooter from office around 11.45pm.

The woman also met Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar on Thursday.

The police have retrieved the footage from CCTV cameras installed on the route that the victim and the accused took on Sunday night. The police are scanning the footage to get a clear picture of the registration number of the car in order to identify the accused.

Police said the woman is still under a lot of trauma and has not got back to her normal routine.

Two teams— from Sector 14 police station and from the crime branch— have been formed to probe the incident. The teams will work under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police (DCP), crime, Sumit Kuhar.

The police are trying to gather more CCTV footage from the entire 6km stretch on which the woman was allegedly stalked by the two men.

She started from her office in Sector 17 towards Iffco Chowk, from there she rode towards Atul Kataria Chowk and then towards Sector 14, her fiancé had told Hindustan Times.

The woman was chased by the accused for almost 20 minutes, he claimed.

“We are trying to retrace the route that the woman took. We are looking at all angles. We met the woman today and have gathered more information for further investigation. We will also conduct an inquiry to find out if there was any delay in response from the police in filing a case based on her complaint,” Khirwar said.

The teams will gather more CCTV footage from the entire stretch and try to get the vehicle registration number of the car, the police said. The number is not clear in the footage collected so far, a police officer said.

“The woman is depressed after the incident and we are in touch with the police,” her fiancé said on Thursday.

A case has been registered at the Sector 14 police station under the Section 354-D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The FIR says the incident happened around 11.45pm on Sunday.

The woman in her complaint to the police also claimed that the accused allegedly passed lewd comments on her, followed her and tried to stop her, while she was returning home from work on a scooter.
