AMRITSAR: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, on Monday, warned against any kind of censorship by the cable distribution companies. He said strict action will be taken against Fastway or other organisations indulging in such activities.

The CM said, ”While our government will not indulge in political vendetta, it will take strict action against any media or cable organisation, found engaged in censorship of any channel or information.”

The CM lashed out at Union food processing minister Harsmirat Kaur Badal over her statement, accusing the government of misleading people over debt waiver. “She had no clue as to what she was talking about. She should restrict herself to food processing,” he said.

On the issue of whitefly attack, he said, “I visited Mansa and met the farmers. The affected fields have been isolated and strict monitoring is being done by the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).”

HITS OUT AT AKALIS ON FARMER SUICIDES

Hitting out at the Akalis and alleging them of ruining the farmers’ life during the 10 years of their misrule, the CM said around 7,000 farmers having committed suicide in the SAD regime, while 90 have committed suicides in our time.

It was unfortunate that the farmers are still committing suicide, he said, reassuring the farmers that their loans up to ₹2 lakh had been waived off by his government. Captain dismissed the Opposition’s charges that he is not visiting the state, saying one has to go with a purpose, especially considering the amount of work his government needs to do to bring the state’s economy back on track.

He said that his government’s campaign against drugs had been successful, with over 6,900 dealers and suppliers in police net. “Big players in the trade are being chased by the police and will be arrested soon,” he said.
