AMRITSAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday asked Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to take action against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the Bhola drug racket case.

He alleged that the chief minister is sparing Majithia under a “secret understanding” between the SAD-BJP (Shiromani Akali Dal- Bharatiya Janata Party) and him.

The former Aam Aadmi Party state unit’s in-charge held a press conference here after appearing in the district court in a defamation case filed by Majithia.

“The uncle-nephew relation between Captain and Majithia is an open truth. In such a situation, we cannot expect any action against Majithia, despite evidences, including the statement of Bittu Aulakh against him,” he said. Commenting on the court’s document which was made public by Majithia during a press conference, he said he will consult his lawyers to ensure that the court takes notice of the same.

Lashing out at the chief minister, Sanjay said, “Before polls, Captain made three major promises — debt waiver, employment and a drug-free state.”

“However, he has failed to deliver and people are disappointed with this,” said the AAP leader.

Commenting on the chief minister’s negotiations with the Centre, he said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has its own government in Uttar Pradesh where the issue of debt waiver has been burning. If it could do nothing for farmers in Uttar Pradesh, how will the Centre help farmers of Punjab?”

“From 2014 to 2017, same alliance remained in power in Punjab and the Centre, but not a single penny of farm loan was waived off,” he added.

Terming the BJP’s campaign of boycotting Chinese goods as a “drama”, he said. “If the BJP-led Centre wants, it can stop the import of Chinese goods in one go. Instead, it allows the import,” he added.

The senior leader was accompanied by all senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party of Majha region.
