COPS CRACK BLIND MURDER CASE, ARREST 1

-

AMRITSAR: In a breakthrough, Amritsar (rural) police claimed to have cracked a blind murder case by arresting one.

A bus driver, Gurwinder Singh, was shot down by unidentified suspects in a road rage incident on the local Fatehgarh Churian last month.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) (rural) Parampal Singh said that the police teams worked in a scientific manner and succeeded in identifying the suspects. The SSP said, “The accused are Sikander Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Sohan Lal. Sikander Singh has been nabbed under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) while the other two are still absconding.”

SSP Parampal Singh said that on July 22, the bus driver was shot down by unidentified carborne suspects after a tussle over not getting the road passage.

As the suspects got irritated for not getting passage, they took the car ahead and stopped the bus. When the bus driver jumped out , the suspects shot him down. The driver later succumbed to his injuries in hospital the next day.

The bus belonged to a firm owned by family of former Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker and senior Akali leader Nirmal Singh Kahlon. The SSP said, “It was totally a blind case but the police worked tirelessly to identify the suspects. We have nabbed one person. Efforts are on to arrest others as well.”
