UDAIPUR: On his second visit to Rajasthan after being elected as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi promised big-ticket changes in Rajasthan saying his government will change the face of Rajasthan in the coming years.

Addressing a rally in Udaipur on Tuesday, the PM, who began his speech in the local dialect said, “we are here to do work and not make empty election promises. Today, we have inaugurated road projects worth more than ₹5,600 crore and committed to build road projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Rajasthan alone.”

Earlier, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several projects with a total outlay of more than ₹15,000 crore.

These included 11 complete national highway projects totalling 873 km and performed the ground breaking ceremony for several national highway projects totalling 556 km.

Taking a dig at the previous Congress government in the state, he said they could not complete a ₹300 crore bridge over Chambal river in 11 years while the BJP government finished it in three.

Rajasthan goes to polls in December 2018.

Continuing to target the Opposition, he said when projects get stuck, the country faces a huge loss.

“These road projects will give a big boost to tourism in Rajasthan and will also benefit the farmers who will be able to take their produce to the mandis. It will also save lives as pregnant women in remote rural area will be able to reach hospital in less time. The optical fiber network will ensure that benefits of education reach remote villages...” he said.

He also visited the Pratap Gaurav Kendra.
