Capt’s 6-month rule saga of lies, betrayal: SAD

CHANDIGARH: Shir oman iA kali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Friday claimed that Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government has failed on all fronts in its six-month tenure which was marked by lies and betrayal.

Addressing mediapersons here, Sukhbir said, “It (Congress government) is completing six months in office soon. This tenure can at best be described as one raising false hopes with false promises.”

Counting what he called the Congress’ major debacles, the SAD president said the government had failed to waive loan of even a single farmer in the state despite Amarinder making a written commitment which was handed over to farmers through forms distributed to them.

“The CM reiterated this both inside and outside the Vidhan Sabha. Farmers are still awaiting loan waiver worth ₹90,000 crore. Forget about doing anything for them, the government has raised market fee and rural development cess which will affect lakhs of farmers cultivating basmati, cotton and vegetables which are not covered by the minimum support price (MSP),” said the SAD president.

‘NO SUICIDE-HIT FAMILY COMPENSATED’

The former deputy CM claimed ‘kurki’ was still very much in place in the state because the government had not amended the relevant clause in the Revenue Act. “More than 200 farmers have committed suicide in the last six months and no family has been given the promised ₹10 lakh compensation or government job,” he said.

Targeting the Congress on another poll promise of “ghar ghar naukari”, Sukhbir said the government has failed to give a single job to the youth except one deputy superintendent of police (DSP)’s job to “an overaged youth who happens to be the grandson of former CM Beant Singh”. ‘JOB FAIR A BIG FRAUD’ He said a fraud was committed recently in the name of ‘Rozgar Mela’ (job fair) with the government appropriating the routine placement drives at technical institutions every year.

He said the credibility of job announcements could be seen from the one-page MoU signed the government with Assocham (Associated Chambers of Commerce of India). “The MoU does not even have the date,” he said.

He said the government had also run away from its promise to provide ₹2,500 monthly allowance to unemployed youth.

“The decision to give unemployment allowance to the youth as well as smart phones was announced in the Vidhan Sabha by the CM. He also announced in the assembly that electricity tariff would be frozen at ₹5 per unit for new and existing industry. Nothing has been implemented,” he said.
