PANCHKULA: Rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s key aide based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has been arrested in connection with the violence in Panchkula that broke out after Ram Rahim’s conviction on August 25.

Pardeep Goyal, head of dera’s Udaipur centre, was arrested by the special investigation team of the Haryana Police with the help of the Rajasthan police on Friday and has been bought to Panchkula.

Sources claimed that Goyal has reportedly told the police that sect chief’s adopted daughter Honeypreet had met him in Udaipur after Ram Rahim’s conviction and thereafter she fled to Nepal. The police are on a hunt for Honeypreet for her alleged role in Panchkula violence.

Director general of police (DGP) BS Sandhu, however, denied claims about Honeypreet being in Nepal and said Goyal’s interrogation will shed more light on the Panchkula violence.

Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla said, “Goyal was brought here on Sunday morning after which he was produced in a local court that remanded him in 7-day police custody for further interrogation,” Chawla.

As per Goyal’s Facebook profile, he is also the local coordinator for the Shah Satnam Green Force Unit.

While police did not verify whether he was physically present in Panchkula on August 25, he is learnt to have sent several dera followers from Rajasthan to Panchkula ahead of CBI court verdict.
