FIVE SNATCHERS ARRESTED
AMRITSAR:The city police have arrested five robbers including snatchers and bike-lifters in three different cases and have recovered looted vehicles and other items from their possession here on Saturday.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-2) Lakhbir Singh and assistant commissioner of police (ACP-west) Vishaljit Singh said that Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, of Dhaewala village, and Gurjant Singh alias Janta, of Thatha village, both in Tarn Taran district, were wanted in a case registered at the Chheherta police station, under charges of snatching and lifting bikes.
“During a naka laid on Friday, SHO inspector Lakhwinder Singh’s team held both the accused, while their third aide, Rajbir Singh alias Kala is still absconding. Two mobiles and a bike were recovered from their possession,” the ADCP said.
In another case, Rahul Kumar, of Mehma Pandori village in Jalandhar, was booked and arrested by Kot Khalsa police chowki in-charge Davinder Singh, under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of IPC.
An Activa scooter and four stolen mobile phones were seized from his possession.
In the third case, two bike-borne men snatched a purse from Rajkiran, of Dashmesh Avenue here on Friday. Driver of the autorickshaw, in which the victim was travelling, tried to chase and nab them but failed.
Police arrested the looters, identified as Yuvraj Singh and Dilpreet Singh for snatching.
