PANCHKULA:The Panchkula police have asked Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan to share details of the cavalcade that accompanied sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim on the day of his conviction in the rape case on August 25.

The police had impounded 56 vehicles that were part of his cavalcade after violence erupted in Panchkula and recovered a large number of weapons and other inflammable material.

Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla told HT that eight of these impounded vehicles were registered directly in the dera’s name. “We have asked the dera chairperson to provide us the particulars of those people who travelled on those vehicles, and also of their drivers. This information will be very useful for the ongoing probe into the Panchkula violence,” he said

He said Vipassana has been given time till September 28 to provide these details. “If this information is not shared with us, we will be forced to take strict action against her,” he said

Sources said the police apprehended that people that accompanied the baba’s cavalcade were involved in inciting violence in Panchlula.

COPS’ PRESSURE ON HONEYPREET FORCED HER TO MOVE COURT

Claiming that the police will soon arrest Honeypreet, the so-called adopted daughter of the dera chief, Chawla said repeated police raids forced her to move the Delhi high court to seek anticipatory bail, which has been dismissed.

“She should have rather appeared before the police and joined the probe rather than moving the court. We will soon take her in our custody as warrants have already been issued,” he said.
