‘Not enough doctors’ during Haryana CM’s Kurukshetra road show: Probe ordered
KURUKSHETRA: Violating the protocol, district medical officials failed to send the required number of doctors during the road show of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Ladwa town on September 24.
Kurukshetra DC Sumedha Kataria said she has ordered an inquiry into the matter .
Officials in the Haryana health department said during the visit of a VIP, the district civil hospital should ensure presence of a general physician, a surgeon, an orthopaedicdoctor, ananesthesiologist, a lab technician, a pharmacist and a Class-4 attendant.
However, sources told HT that during Khattar’s road show in Ladwa, the health team sent by the medical superintendent of Kurukshetra civil hospital comprised a physician and an emergency medical technician (EMT) only. The attendance register accessed by the HT also revealed that physician Dr Shailender Sharma and EMT Kuldeep accompanied the road show. There was no lab technician and no blood units in the ambulance, they added. The CM covered about 15 km and addressed two public meetings.
Medical superintendent Mukesh Kumar said, “Two doctors were on duty in the temporary hospital and three people were on the duty with the CM.”
DC Kataria said she has issued directions that the medical superintendent should apprise the DC office about the presence of the staff on the VIP duty.
Kurukshetra CMO SK Nain said, “I have sought explanation from the medical superintendent We will also find out if the doctors concerned deliberately remained absent. These are serious lapses and action will be taken against the erring staff.”
HT tried to contact additional chief secretary (health) Amit Jha, but he did not respond to the phone calls and text messages.
