MURDER TRIAL: COURT RESERVES DECISION ON PLEAS SEEKING FURTHER PROBE
PANCHKULA: The special CBI court on Tuesday reserved its order on several applications seeking further investigations in the ongoing murder trial against rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his accomplices.
These applications were moved last week by Krishan Lal, who is main accused along with the dera chief in the murder of dera member Ranjit Singh and Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati in 2002.
“The order will be pronounced on Wednesday afternoon after the conclusion of arguments of both the defence and the CBI counsel,” said Krishan Lal’s counsel Bankim Kulshreshtha.
Referring to the Ranjit murder case, Lal had demanded further investigations to bring on record a vital fact as to how just before Ranjit’s murder, his brother-in-law purchased life insurance policy on his name with the help of LIC agents and even paid his premium barely days before his murder.
He also stated that the then crime branch officer of the area, inspector Azad Singh, had lodged an FIR implicating Ranjit’s kin for conspiring to murder him.
After taking charge of the murder probe, the CBI however filed a closure report in the insurance policy FIR despite several vital clues.
Another application sought the site inspection of the alleged spot from where the accused entered into a car after firing upon Ranjit Singh and was allegedly seen by prosecution witness Raj Pal.
