FARIDKOT: Police have arrested gangster Ramandeep Singh alias Ramana Sekhon, 26, near Moranwali in Faridkot district on Thursday night.

He is a close aide of notorious gangster Goru Bacha alias Gaurav Sharma.

Bacha has over 18 cases against him, including murder, extortion and loot.

Police said he is wanted in at least two other murder cases.

The SSP informed that acting on a tip-off, the police set a special checkpoint wherein Ramandeep was arrested. “He tried to escape but the cops chased and arrested him,” he said.

Police have also recovered a pistol and four live cartridges from his possession. A case been registered against him under the arms act at Kotkapura police station.

“Ramdeep is wanted in several murder and extortion cases in different districts of Punjab,” the SSP added.

Police sources said Ramandeep presently works for Kala Nepali Gang and has been active for 9 years. Police claims that at present only two gangsters—Tirath Dhelwan and Sema Behbal —are active in the district.
