JALANDHAR: After receiving no help from the police in getting their mother Paramjit Kaur,39, who has been allegedly sold as a slave in Saudi Arabia, the disheartened children of the Bilga village based woman have now expressed their plight through a video to reach the concerned authorities.

Kaur had gone to Saudi Arabia for job as a house help on July 13. She contacted her family on August 21 about her incarceration by her employer.

The video was shared by social worker Rajvinder Sharma, who has been helping the economically weak family.

In the video, Kaur’s daughter Rajni, 17, is seen requesting ministry of external affairs (MEA) to get their mother back. “We are Gorsiya Nihal residents. My mother Paramjit Kaur was sold by an agent Resham Lal Bhatti for ₹4 lakh in Saudi Arabia. The police have not taken any action yet. We are poor and our mother has been suffering a lot,” says Rajni. “I request foreign ministry and the state government to help us get our mother back as soon as possible,” she says. Their grandmother, Dalipo ,80, and brother Luvpreet Singh, 15, can also be seen in the video. Rajni is a Class-12 student and Luvpreet studies in Class-8 at a government school. The victim’s relative Naresh Kumar,50, alleged that police have not been arresting the accused because of his political link.

In an FIR, the victim’s husband Malkeet Ram ,45, alleged that the travel agent had promised her a job by saying that his wife also worked there and that the family will get ₹40,000, once she settles there. After she got the job, her employer kept her passport and did not allow her to move out of the house, said Naresh Kumar.

Bhatti was booked under Sections 370 , 420 and 120B of the IPC.Nakodar DSP Mukesh Kumar said that Resham Lal is absconding.
