Vigilance team nabs ASI for taking ₹20,000 bribe from Hoshiarpur man

HOSHIARPUR: An ASI of the Punjab Police, posted in Model Town police station, was caught by the vigilance bureau, late on Tuesday.

He was caught accepting ₹20,000 bribe from a local resident. Jaspal Singh, of Central Town, had complained to the SSP about the financial fraud.

An enquiry was marked to ASI Gurmukh Singh.The ASI sought money to nab the fraudsters. Jaspal Singh brought the matter to the notice of vigilance, who arrested the ASI red-handed. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered. SSP JElan-chazhian said that since no report was received from the vigilance, departmental enquiry has not been initiated. HTC
