WASTEFUL EXPENDITURE IN THE NAME OF FAITH

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee spent lavishly on celebrating the Parkash Divas of Guru Ram Das recently. The Uttar Pradesh chief minister plans have one lakh oil lamps lit to celebrate the arrival of Lord Ram to Ayodhya on Diwali. What is this if not wasteful expenditure in the name of faith? All this is happening at a time when debtridden farmers are committing suicide and the country is facing unemployment. The media should raise this issue to end lavish spending and draw the attention of our leaders towards issues that matter. JS Sodhi, Mohali
