CM Khattar announces ₹10 hike in sugarcane state advisory price
CHANDIGARH: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced a hike of ₹10 per quintal in the state advisory price (SAP) of sugarcane.
The move will benefit the farmers to the tune of ₹86 crore, he said.
The chief minister said that in view of the beginning of the wheat sowing season, electricity supply for the agriculture sector will be increased from the existing eight hours to 10 hours a day in the state till November 15.
The chief minister also announced to upgrade Ladwa tehsil to sub-division. Following the resolution passed by the gram panchayats, Khattar said the state government had renamed Mustafabad village in Yamunanagar district as Saraswati Nagar, Ganda village in Fatehabad as Ajit Nagar and Kinnar village in Hisar as Gaibipur.
Similarly, Chamar Khera village in Hisar will be renamed as Sunder Khera, Garhi Sampla in Rohtak as Chottu Ram Nagar and Panjokhra as Panjokhra Sahib. The state had forwarded a proposal to this effect to the Union ministry of home affairs, he added.
2% TAX ON POWER BILLS FOR URBAN CONSUMERS
People living in urban areas of the state will have to shell out 2% more on the consumption of electricity.
The assembly passed the Haryana Municipal Corporation (second amendment) Bill and the Haryana Municipal (second amendment) Bill to allow the municipal bodies to levy the tax on urban consumers.
Though the electricity charges have been increased from time to time, the municipal tax has not been increased since 2000 when it was levied at a rate of 5 paise for every unit of electricity consumed by an urban consumer. “Keeping in view this increase in electricity charges and poor financial position of municipal bodies, it is required to charge the tax on the consumption of electricity at the rate of 2% of every bill amount, the statement read.
The tax shall be collected by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam,’’ it said.
Congress MLAs Kiran Choudhry and Raghuvir Singh Kadian objected when the Haryana Consolidation of Project Land (Special Provision) Bill 2017 was tabled in assembly on Wednesday. The Bill though was passed by the House without any discussion.
The statement of objects and reasons of the Bill said that projects were sometimes held up because a few landowners were not willing to sell their lands.
In such cases it may be necessary to compulsory exchange some of the land so purchased for the project or to suitably compensate the owner of the left out pieces of land.
The assembly on Wednesday also passed the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority Bill 2017 replacing the ordinance promulgated earlier, the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Bill 2017, the Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (Amendment) Bill 2017, the Haryana State Higher Education Council Bill 2017, the Haryana Settlement of Outstanding Dues Bill 2017 and the Haryana Appropriation Bill (No.3) 2017.
