‘HARYANA TO DOUBLE FARMERS’ INCOME BY 2022’
KURUKSHETRA: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said Haryana will become the first state in the country to double the income of farmers by 2022.
Khattar stated this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the ‘Integrated Bee-keeping Development Centre’ under an Indo-Israel project ‘Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture’ set up at Ramnagar in Kurukshetra.
He said the efforts being made by the state agriculture department will certainly help in realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the income of farmers by 2022.
Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh, who was scheduled to attend the event, could not make it.
The CM said the bee-keeping development centre has been set up on 25 acres at a cost of Rs 10.5 crore.
There are 13 bee-breeders at the centre and the number will be increased to 32 by next year. The state government is providing a subsidy of Rs four lakh per bee-breeder, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Israel ambassador Daniel Carmon said the objective of setting up the bee-keeping development centre is to empower farmers.
The ambassador said Israel will hold a international conference on agro-technologies in May 2018.
He also invited Khattar to visit Israel.
The CM invited Carmon to attend the International Gita Mahotsav to be held in Kurukshetra from November 25 to 30.
CM STOPS CAVALCADE TO MEET COBBLER
On his way back to Chandigarh, the chief minister stopped his cavalcade to meet a cobbler in Shahbad Markanda town in Kurukshetra district.
During a brief interaction with shoeshine man Ajmer Singh, Khattar announced a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for him.
