High court advances hearing date for Pintos’ bail pleas

-

PLEAS WILL NOW BE HEARD ON NOVEMBER 17, INSTEAD OF DECEMBER 5

CHANDIGARH:The Punjab and Haryana high court has advanced the date of hearing on the bail pleas of Pinto family to November 17 in connection with the murder of a student in their Gurugram school, Ryan International School.

The high court bench of justice Surinder Gupta passed the order after it was apprised by Barun Chandra Thakur, father of the victim, that the Supreme Court, in its order of November 6, had given ten days’ time for disposal of the matter.

The hearing was earlier scheduled on December 5.

The anticipatory bail pleas by group’s CEO Ryan Pinto and his parents, founding chairman Augustine Pinto and managing director Grace Pinto, were filed on September 19.

The high court had earlier stayed the arrest of Pintos on September 28.

The pleas were filed after the school was accused of negligence in the death of eight-year-old Pradyuman, who was murdered in a toilet of the school campus in Gurgaon on September 8.

The local police had arrested a bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, for the crime.

However, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is now probing the matter, has detained a Class-11 student of the school for murdering the child to get his examinations and a parent-teacher meeting (PTM) postponed.
