Don’t allow film screening with controversial scenes: Tanwar

KARNAL: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar on Sunday said the makers of Padmavati should end the controversy by removing controversial scenes from the film, which is facing countrywide protests from the Rajput community.
“Nobody has the right to hurt the sentiments of any community. Whether they are directors, actors or producers, they should respect the sentiments of others and remove the controversial scenes,” he said, adding if the directors do not edit the scenes, the censor board should not allow the screening of the movie in cinema halls.
Tanwar, who was here to participate in a bike rally organised by the Haryana Congress to mark the 100 birth anniversary of late prime minister Indira Gandhi. Hundreds of Congress workers participated in the bike rally.
Talking to mediapersons, Tanwar said Indira Gandhi was India’s Iron Lady and she had taken several decisions for the welfare of the poor and farmers.
Terming Indira as India’s strongest prime minister till date, he said she took several decisions like the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, nationalisation of banks and played an important role in the Green Revolution, poverty elimination and creation of Bangladesh.
Tanwar said the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the state have failed to fulfil people’s expectations.
“Our strong leadership is ready to defeat the helpless leadership of the BJP,” Tanwar said.
