HYDERABAD: Mitra, a humanoid robot developed by Bengalurubased Invento Robotics, greeted Ivanka Trump and PM Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad Convention Centre (HICC) here.
Mitra greeted the leaders with a folded-hand “namaste” and welcomed them. It also announced the inauguration of after Modi and Ivanka pressed the buttons on their respective country’s flags. The robot, named after the Vedic god of friendship, is a poster child for cooperation in artificial intelligence between India and China.
Another version, capable of speech and face recognition and interactive gestures, welcomes customers at the Canara Bank in Bengaluru. Mitra is designed to be an “indoor autonomous robot” or one that can be deployed in offices, hospitals and even multiplex cinemas. “The computer-aided designing has been done in India.
