Question Hour falls victim to slogans

SOME OPPN MEMBERS DID NOT ASK THEIR LISTED QUESTIONS AND QUESTION HOUR GOT OVER IN HALF AN HOUR

CHANDIGARH: Slogan-shouting by legislator­s of AAP, SAD and other opposition parties disrupted the Question Hour of the Punjab assembly on Tuesday.

As soon as the House met for the day, members of the AAP and the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) raised the audio clip controvers­y, pressing for an adjournmen­t motion and the Akalis also started counter-sloganeeri­ng, creating chaos.

Speaker Rana KP Singh decided to go ahead with the Question Hour, but much of it could not be heard. Also, some opposition MLAs did not ask their listed questions and the question hour got over in just half an hour.

30,000 VEHICLES LYING IN POLICE STATIONS: CAPT

Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh informed the members that more than 30,000 vehicles, including 21,134 two-wheelers and 10,791 four-wheelers, are lying in police stations across the state as case properties.

The CM , who was replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Gurkirat Singh regarding the space problem in police stations, said that his government was ready to review, if necessary, the policy regarding such vehicles.

He said directions had already been issued to continue with the special drive to dispose of all the vehicles lying in “malkhanas”, except those which were required for trial of cases.

All zonal inspectors general of police and all commission­ers of police had been instructed to file monthly progress reports regarding this, the chief minister further said. HTC
