List 9 promises fulfilled in 9-months: Sampla to Capt
CHANDIGARH: Alleging that the Congress government in Punjab has become a government of U-turns, Union minister of state and Punjab BJP chief Vijay Sampla on Saturday challenged chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to list at least nine promises he has fulfilled during his nine months in office.
Addressing the media here on the completion of Congress government’s nine-month rule in the state, Sampla said: “Amarinder had made tall pre-Poll promises to farmers, youth, Dalits, traders, elderly, women, backward classes, govt employees and urban-rural voters, the nine major sections of society during Punjab elections. Now, he should tell which of those he has fulfilled?”
The state BJP chief said every section of the society is feeling betrayed, especially the farmers.
“Similar was government attitude towards providing power at ₹5 per unit. Amarinder first promised cheap power and later did a U-turn,” said Sampla.
He said the other major promises — ban on kurki of farm land, ghar-ghar rozgar, ₹2,500 unemployment allowance for unemployed, providing smartphones to youth, house for homeless Dalits, eradicating drug menace within a month, increasing elderly and women pension to ₹1,500 have not been touched by the government.
‘STATE FAILED TO SPEND ₹115 CR MEANT FOR SC STUDENTS’
Sampla, who is Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment that provides money for post-matric scholarships for the Scheduled Caste students, charged the Punjab government with not utilising ₹115 crore provided to it by the Centre eight months ago.
“Eight months have passed since ₹115 crore had been released to the Punjab government by the Centre for the postmatric SC scholarship scheme.
“Not even a single penny has been distributed under this scheme by the Punjab government yet,” he said, state officials say verification was being done.
