The accused has been identified as Nitin Kumar of Deep Avenue in Tarn Taran.

In his complaint, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Narinder Singh said he was deployed as duty officer at the police station when Jatinder Singh and Nitin Kumar lodged a complaint against Avtar Singh alias Fouzi of Chander Colony Tarn Taran. “I assured them that the police will take action as per law,” he said.

“In the presence of the police personnel, Nitin started threatening to kill the women. Head constable Sukha Singh, the victim, tried to calm down Nitin, but to no avail,” the assistant sub-inspector added.

“Outside the police station, Nitin in a fit of rage pushed Sukha who fell on the ground and became unconscious,” he said.

“We then rushed Sukha to the Tarn Taran civil hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead,” Narinder said.
