: The family of a Kashmiri female student studying at Bhagat Phool Singh (BPS) Medical College for girls in Sonepat has alleged harassment by a professor of the college in a complaint sent via email to the vicechancellor of University of Health Sciences, Rohtak.

The complaint submitted by the student’s brother stated that she was unable to attend classes last year due to large-scale violence in the Valley post militant Burhan Vani’s killing.

However, the complaint stated the accused professor has been ‘mentally torturing’ her and not letting her sit for exams despite her taking a one-year extension for missing classes.

Dr OP Kalra, the V-C of health university, said that he has forwarded the complaint to the director of the medical college for necessary action.

He, however, refused to give more information. Dr PS Ghalaut, the director of BPS Medical College, also refused to divulge detail of the complaint saying the matter was under investigation.

Sources said that college has constituted an internal committee to probe the allegations.

Recently crowned Miss World Manushi Chhillar is also a third-year student at the same medical college.
