PATNA:Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has received a pat from several leaders, including Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the grand arrangements for the three-day “Shukrana Samaroh” (thanksgiving concluding event) of the 350th Parkash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh, which concluded on Monday.

Union minister for food processing industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal, along with her husband and former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, met Kumar at his official residence, and praised him for the arrangements during the event. Kumar welcomed the two leaders with bouquet and presented them with a memento and “angvastra”. They presented a “siropa” to Kumar, an official release said.

Kumar thanked the two leaders for their gesture and said: “This (Patna) is the birthplace of the 10th Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh. It’s a matter of pride for the people of the state. It is our duty and privilege to do whatever we can do to celebrate the 350th birth anniversary of the Guru.”

Kumar said the state government had organised the inaugural programme of the 350th Parkash Parv on a grand scale in January earlier this year and now the state government has organised the “Shukrana Samaroh” of the yearlong anniversary function, which, incidentally, is also the 351st Parkash Parv.

Sukhbir Badal’s father and former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, while sharing dias with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kumar at the inaugural function of 350th Parkash Parv in Patna in January this year, had appreciated Kumar’s hosting of the great Sikh event in a well organised manner.

Prominent among those who were present during Monday’s meeting included Delhi’s Rajouri Garden MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Bihar chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, former state chief secretary GS Kang, CM’s principal secretary Chanchal Kumar and others.

Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh had also praised Kumar for the arrangements made for the Sikh pilgrims. Amarinder had met Kumar at his official residence in Patna on December 22 and thanked him for the arrangements.
