AAP’s Sisodia to hold one-to-one meetings with state leaders
CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party’s newly-appointed in-charge of Punjab affairs Manish Sisodia will start one-to-one meetings with party MLAs, state officebearers and district presidents soon.
“The feedback meetings are being planned for first-hand information on the working of party units at different levels,” AAP co-president Aman Arora said after a state-level meeting of the party MLAs and officebearers in Chandigarh on Friday. The meeting chaired by state unit president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann also passed a resolution welcoming Sisodia’s appointment. Leader of opposition Sukhpal Khaira, Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh and deputy leader of the legislature party Sarabjit Kaur Manuke were among those present
The AAP had named Sisodia, who is deputy chief minister in the Delhi government, as in-charge of Punjab after assessment of prevailing political situation in the state. The party was without any observer for more than six months and had suffered reverses in the Gurdaspur parliamentary byelection and civic polls in three major towns.
In the meeting, the state leadership also decided to make appointments at booth and block levels, start fresh activities across the state with special emphasis in rural areas and give identity cards to officebearers to motivate the party cadres, according to a party release.
“The party’s presence upto booth level will be strengthened. Monthly meetings are being planned at zonal, district and booth levels. Also, committees will be set up on different issues,” Mann said while addressing the party leaders. He said the party would not tolerate any injustice by the state government with its supporters and give a befitting reply. Khaira said the party structure would be strengthened on the basis of merit.
