be paid to Surender after the contract was executed, an official said. The deal was struck in Jharsa, a police officer said.

Sumit Kuhar, DCP (crime) confirmed the development and said that the name of a serving policeman, who is under suspension, cropped up for giving contract to kill inspector Raj Kumar, in-charge crime branch Sector 9.

“The accused has named an ASI in connection with contract to kill a crime branch officer. He has accepted that he took money to kill the Gurgaon crime branch officer. This is a very serious disclosure and the facts are being verified before any action is taken,” he said.

Surender, an alleged gangster, was taken on remand by crime branch team of Sector 17 in connection with a case, and it was during questioning that he revealed about this deal to the police.

Surender is accused of five murders and is presently lodged in Bhondsi jail.

Recently, Surender’s complaint to the state vigilance department led to the arrest of ASI Kripa Ram, a jail official, who was allegedly demanding money from his wife in lieu of jail facilities.

The complaint on Surender’s behalf was lodged by Manish Bhardwaj, the mastermind in the fake arms licence racket.

The police officer, who has been named by the accused, has been under scanner for the last couple of years.

He was recently arrested for allegedly colluding with a top Delhi gangster lodged in Bhondsi jail to get a plot of land vacated.

The ASI had in fact held a press conference and accused top officials of Gurgaon police of framing him in corruption and other cases.

The ASI is also related to a Gurgaon gangster who was slain last year in an alleged gang war.
