Cong still in pain, must accept poll verdict: HP CM
‘Cong govt tried to delay probe in Kotkhai case’
MANDI : Chief minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said his government is committed to improve the law and order situation in the state.
Speaking at an event organised on the occasion of Makar Sakranti in Tattapani in Mandi district, Thakur said, “There will be no more mafia raj in Himachal Pradesh. The government will adopt a zerotolerance approach towards corruption. We are also open to suggestions from the public at large.”
Thakur blamed the previous Congress government for allowing the law and order situation to deteriorate in the state.
“We still can’t forget the Kotkhai rape and murder case. The culprits were being protected by the Congress government. The BJP raised voice against this and demanded that the probe should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation but the Congress government tried to delay the case,” the chief minister said.
Taking a further dig at the Congress, he said, “I know Congress leaders are still pained at their defeat in the elections. They should accept the people’s verdict wholeheartedly.”
Speaking about his government’s policy to end the system of re-employing retired government employees, Thakur said, “We took the decision to oust the tired and retired from government jobs. Sometimes it becomes important to carry on the services of some employees by re-employing them. However, to re-employ people in thousands was an absurd decision of the Congress government, especially at a time when the number of unemployed people is increasing.”
