Uproar in CKD House over decisions taken by Chadha
AMRITSAR: The Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) held its general House meeting on Tuesday amid an uproar over various decisions taken by its ousted president Charanjit Singh Chadha during his tenure.
A day after CKD’s executive panel endorsed the expulsion of Chadha from the 115-year-old organisation, the general house meeting was called to give its final endorsement as per the constitution of the organisation.
Of 540 members, around 170 attended the meeting held inside the gurdwara situated at the headquarters of the organisation.
Itwasfollowedbyintroduction of a resolution of condolence over the death of Inderpreet Singh Chadha, who was vice-president of the Chief Khalsa Diwan and booked along with his father Charanjit Singh Chadha for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation on the complaint of a woman principal.
Depressed over the sex scandal, he had allegedly shot self with his own weapon.
Acting president Dhanraj Singh and honourary secretary Narinder Singh Khurana read out the next resolutions.
The House passed the resolution of giving approval to Chadha’s expulsion in one go.
The dissent sparked when the top office-bearers announced to wind up the meeting only after ten minutes and asked the ‘granthi’ (Sikh priest) to recite ‘gurbani’ for same.
Some members, including Kiranjot Kaur — who is also an SGPC member — later started complaining that they had been deprived of the opportunity to raise their issues. HTC
