GURGAON: Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh said that a government school, a road and a bus stand in Ransika village, which is 33 kilometres from Gurgaon, will be named after the late Captain Kapil Kundu who was martyred in Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir, on Sunday.

The minister further said that he will take up the request for a government job for his two sisters and the establishment of a health centre named after him with chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

“I will take these matters up with the chief minister, since there are provisions for providing jobs to children or brothers of martyrs, but the rules may have to be changed to provide jobs to sisters, who are married,” Singh said.

However, when residents of the village said that married sisters of martyrs have been given jobs in the past, Singh said that Kundu’s sisters should, in that case, also be granted jobs.

The minister, while visiting the family, also announced that the government school in the village, a road leading to the village, as well as a bus stand located at Khod village, which lies near Ransika, will be named after the 22-year-old martyr.

He also backed their demand for a memorial to immortalise Captain Kundu.

The Union minister further assured Kundu’s family members that as per the Indian Government’s insurance policy for army personnel, they will get ₹60 lakh as insurance, ₹35 lakh as ex gratia and ₹2 lakh from the welfare fund.
