MOLESTATION CASE: READY FOR LIEDETECTION TEST, SAYS MLA
RUPNAGAR : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Rupnagar Amarjit Singh Sandoa, who is facing trial in a case of alleged molestation of a woman, has sought further investigation in the case.
Sandoa has submitted an application in the court of Rupnagar chief judicial magistrate and has volunteered for lie-detection test to prove his innocence.
The police booked Sandoa on July 29 last year on charges of intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, assault and criminal intimidation.
The case was registered on the complaint of a 55-year-old woman who had alleged that the MLA had thrashed her when she had gone to his house to ask him to pay pending rents and electricity bills to the tune of ₹2.5 lakh.
She claimed that Sandoa had taken her house on rent in November 2016 for ₹30,000 per month and used it as his election office. He vacated it in April last year but did not pay the rent and the electricity bill, the woman said in her complaint.
She alleged that the MLA thrashed her when she had gone to his house to ask him to clear the due.
The police filed a challan against Sandoa on November 21 last year. The MLA was later granted bail.
He has already filed an application seeking quashing of court claiming that the allegations levelled against him were false.
Rupnagar chief judicial magistrate Puja Andotra has fixed March 19 as the next date of hearing and asked the state government to file a reply to both the applications by then.
