Desperate to marry, UP man kills father to get his govt job
MEERUT: A 22-year-old man, desperate for a government job, killed his father so that he could replace him under a rule that family members can be employed on compassionate grounds if a person dies while still in service, police said on Friday.
The father, 57-year-old Chandra Pal, was a postman in the Central postal department.
Police said the accused, Tarun Pal, had been given an ultimatum by his girlfriend that she would marry him only if he had a government job.
Pal’s body was found on February 1 in a jungle near Kazmabad Goon village near Partapur town.
“His throat had been slit with a sharp-edged weapon. During investigation, the activities of his son were found to be suspicious. He was taken into custody on Wednesday. During interrogation, he confessed to have killed his father with the help of a friend, Sunny Kumar,” said Meerut’s superintendent of police (city) Maan Singh Chauhan, adding that the accused had been booked for murder.
According to the police, Tarun had appeared for a Cental Reserve Police Force recruitment examination in 2016 and qualified in the written examination. “He was rejected in medical round but kept lying to the people that he has been selected. Finding no other way to get a government job, he hatched a conspiracy to eliminate his father and get his job through the dependents’ quota,” Chauhan said.
