ROHTAK : The protest call by All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) to disrupt BJP national president Amit Shah’s upcoming rally in Jind has got the support of Jat Jagriti Sena (JJS)— a rival faction that had been opposing the AIJASS from a long time.

AIJASS chief Yashpal Malik has announced that Jats will not let Shah hold a rally in Haryana till the demands of the community were fulfilled by the government. The Jat Jagriti Sena, which has always opposed Malik’s previous protest calls, has this time lent its support to him.

"Malik had previously tried to fulfil his own motives under the garb of Jat protest. But this time, he seems actually concerned about the issues of the community. So we have decided to give our full support in disrupting Amit Shah’s rally,” said the JJS leaders, who mostly comprise youths who were arrested for their role in the violent Jat agitation of February 2016 and are presently out on bail.

The Jats have planned to clog Jind with tractor-trailers on February 15 to prevent the BJP from holding its motorcycle rally to welcome Shah to Haryana.

To placate the Jats, the state government recently announced to withdraw 70 FIRs against the community members. However, the community is demanding withdrawal of all (more than 2,000) FIRs and reservation in jobs in Haryana and the Centre.
