NC MLA Lone faces backlash for pro-Pak slogans

-

JAMMU: Mohammad Akbar Lone, sitting NC MLA from Sonawari assembly constituency in Bandipora district, created an embarrassing situation when he stood up and shouted pro-Pakistan slogans, when the ruling BJP MLAs were raising antiPakistan slogans to condemn the terror attack.

POLITICAL PARTIES CRITICISE THE ACT

The political parties in the state condemned the raising of pro-Pakistan slogans by the National Conference legislator.

Congress party criticised the former speaker for his action. Congress spokesman Ravinder Sharma said, “We condemn the conduct of former speaker in the House on Saturday. His action was highly condemnable and objectionable.”

Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party president Harshdev Singh termed the slogans by former speaker as shocking and said it is highly objectionable that a platform like assembly is being used to promote Pakistan’s interests. Such action is seditious. It does not behove well with the person who has taken oath on Indian constitution,” he said.

NC DISTANCE ITSELF FROM LONE

NC did not take much time to distance itself from Lone’s pro-Pak slogans, as NC spokesperson Junaid Mattoo immediately went into damage control by posting on Twitter, “Hon’ble @JKNC_ president has said the NC MLA should not forget that he belongs to a party that rejected the two nation theory and he should also remember the oath he swears in the name of God at the beginning of his term. The party disowns and condemns his remarks.”

Omar Abdullah while endorsing his party leader’s party president’s stand said in a tweet, “Totally endorse my Party President’s views outlined in these two tweets. The party will say nothing more on this issue.”
