HAMIRPUR:The RSS has no role in the policy decisions of the state government and whatever decisions the government was taking were in the betterment and welfare of the people, said Jai Ram Thakur, the Himachal chief minister, while addressing a press conference at Kashmir village of the district on Saturday.

He said that BJP is the sister organisation of RSS and it was wrong to say that the RSS was pressuring the government to take vital decisions to which Congress and other opposition parties were opposed to.

Thakur said that he was honored to be an RSS man.

Replying to a question, he said inquiry into the charge sheet framed by the party against the previous Congress party government was ongoing and once the inquiry was complete, further action would be initiated under the law of the land.

Talking about the Janjehali incident, he said that it was due to the wrong submission of facts by the previous Congress government to the state high court. He said that justice would be given to the people and a final decision would be announced shortly.

He said that he was indebted to the people of Hamirpur for making the district a citadel of the BJP. “However, sadly, the party lost in the district on three seats this time,” he said. The doors for accommodating Hamirpur people in his cabinet and other posts were open, the chief minister emphatically added.

Thakur thanked the former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for all round development of the state and said that his advice and suggestions were being sought to expedite development of the state.

In reply to a question, he said that strong punitive action would be taken against all such persons including officers who victimised and harassed the party persons during the last five years.
