Accused teacher, his wife gave victim pills to abort foetus
LUDHIANA: The schoolteacher accused of raping his student and his wife gave abortion pills to the victim to get her foetus aborted, police said.
The teacher’s wife, a staff nurse at the Raikot civil hospital in Jagraon, confessed to have arranged the pills. The police are investigating where she procured the pills from.
The police on Thursday produced all seven accused in the court of judicial magistrate Shaminder Singh.
The court sent four accused — rape accused Punjabi teacher, his wife, officiating principal and Sandhu Scan Centre owner Parminder Singh Sandhu — to police remand. The other accused — maths teacher, scan centre assistant Jagtar Singh and a panchayat member — were sent to judicial remand.
Malaut station house officer (SHO) Rajesh Kumar said since the accused used pills to get the foetus aborted since the victim was just a few weeks pregnant.
While the Punjabi teacher was booked under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act, Section 3 of SC/ST Act, Section 67 of IT Act, the officiating principal was booked under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC, Section 3 of SC/ST Act, Section 67 of IT Act. The rest were booked under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) the IPC.
