Tarn Taran man kills mother, brother over scolding his kids

TARNTARAN:A man allegedly beat his younger brother and mother to death at Daliri village in Bhikhiwind sub-division of the district on Thursday night after his brother scolded his children.

Police have arrested the accused, Sahib Singh (32). The deceased were identified as Dalwinder Kaur (60) and Rajkaran Singh (22).

In her complaint to the police, Dalwinder’s daughter Raj Kaur said her brothers Sahib and Rajkaran were living with their mother at Daliri village for the past two years while her third brother Major Singh lives at their ancestral village Singhpura.

She said, “Sahib’s has three children — two daughters and a son and his wife died seven years back. Rajkaran is unmarried. I along with my husband Gurvail Singh came to my mother’s house on Thursday. Rajkaran scolded Sahib’s children over some mischief due to which Sahib got angry and bashed Rajkaran with a bamboo stick.”

“When my mother intervened to stop the fight, Sahib thrashed her too with the same stick which hit both Rajkaran and my mother on their head, leading to Rajkaran’s death. My mother sustained severe injuries,” she said.

They rushed Dalwinder to the Tarn Taran civil hospital but the doctors declared her brought dead, she said.

Bhikhiwind deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Sulakhan Singh Mann said on Raj Kaur’s complaint a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Sahib Singh.

“The post-mortem of the victims has been conducted and the stick used in the crime was recovered,” he said.
